Well, it has been a year for the history books, that's for sure.

With the pandemic shaping most of American life in 2020, millions have been rediscovering the outdoors.

Other than an increase in trash on many of our favorite trails, it's been great to see.

The more people get out and enjoy our wild spaces, the easier they will be to protect.

Here at Hyke & Byke, we've been growing up a lot: New website, new warehouse, and now...

...drum roll...

New Products!

MEET OUR NEW SLEEPING PADS

Customers already love our sleeping bags and tents, so the next logical products to develop were sleeping pads.

To start, we're offering two versions of our non-insulated Appalachian Sleeping Pad: the Standard and the Ultralight

Each Sleeping pad boasts the following features:

1. PAC-TITE ROLL FASTENER

Both versions include our innovative Pac-Tite Roll Fastener, which keeps your pad roll tight and gives you the option to not bother with the carrying sack.

2. AIR VALVES

Both feature the following two separate, innovative air valves:

RAPID-RELEASE (DUMP) VALVE

Pull the dump valve open and the air spills out quickly from the top end, and will continue to as you roll the pad up from the foot.

With this feature, there's no need to hold some fiddly gasket open while you try to roll your pad up.

Micro-Adjustment Valve

This valve allows you to gradually adjust the air pressure inside the pad to your desired comfort.

3. DURABLE NYLON

To ensure that these pads could take a beating, we chose a sturdy 70D ripstop nylon, which is more than three times thicker than what we use for our sleeping bags.

The air baffles are laid out horizontally, which in our experience has been the most comfortable design.

Vertical baffles just never felt right, and we've found that some pads built with vertical baffles tend to curl inward on us.

And all the cheaper "honeycomb" style pads out there have never been full enough to provide real comfort.

The horizontal baffles we've developed will contour to your body's natural shape much better.

 THE DIFFERENCES

The choice between the Standard and the Ultralight Appalachian Pad really comes down to whether you want to prioritize comfort or pack weight

the standard pad

The Standard Pad is 78" long and a cushy 4" thick when fully inflated, with a rectangular shape.

This one you can spread out on, and it will be much more comfortable for side sleepers.

the ultralight pad

The Ultralight Pad is 3" thick and 72" long with a tapered foot end since, hey, feet don't really need much cushioning anyway.

Designed for more extreme backpackers who want to cut their loadout down as much as possible, these design differences cut about 4oz & 1/2" of thickness.
