The first few campouts i was pleased. The fourth time i used this i noticed cold spots during a 50f night. It got worse from there. I used this on a winter camporee with scouts where it got down to 25f. I froze my tail off.
After getting home and hanging it up i put a light to the back of it and now i see why i got so cold. I emailed customer support and of course they asked if i stored it correctly. Of course. I have all of my down bags laid out in my closet where they will fluff. I never leave them packed more than 12 hours.
Customer service said the “survival” temp was 15f. I Am a scoutmaster and i have had several of my boys get these and now i look like a fool because they have all been burned by this bag. All i wanted was for H&B to take it and evaluate the bag. Nope. So now here i am. I hope this helps others to make a decision. I love pod sleeping systems but there are better ones out there for the same price.

I did not use this on a hammock. I wanted lots of toe room so I could sleep comfortably on my side and open (somewhat) as a blanket. It worked perfectly. I am 5’4” and under 120lbs.

Whoa! I could not be happier with this hammock bag. I was nervous to hammock camp in northern MIchigan in May due to cold temps, but I was toasty warm all night long. It was easy to zip around my hammock, and easy to stuff into my pack. I highly recommend this bag for cool weather hammocking!

Incredible! Regret not buying earlier. Used the Antero 15 for hammock multi night trip, 70’s day, high 30’s night. Habitually used my sleeping pad on first night because I have for 10 years. Ditched the pad after the first night it was that comfy. Slept in a t-shirt. Packs small enough, light enough for my needs. I’m very pleased

Will be using the bag as a sleeping bag in my hammock. Didn't like face exposure using the bag as intended through the hammock. I like that the under quilt is included in the bag. One less item to carry.

I tested it out with my ENO hammock on the NCT in Minnesota. I’m a side sleeper and am always struggling to get comfortable in a mummy bag with a sleeping pad in my hammock; literally getting tangled up, fighting and shifting all night long.
I got the 15 degree bag. The night I tested it, it got down to 42 degrees. I decided to sleep in the hammock with my smart wool under layer without a sleeping pad. It was incredible. I had plenty of room to sleep, no tangling up inside a sleeping bag and no struggling to keep a pad underneath me to stay warm! I was toasty warm all night and used the zipper to adjust the heat “my thermostat”! Loved it, loved it, loved it! Get one❤️

Picked up the Antero for a 9 day motorcycle camping tour of CA. It provided ample warmth, comfort, space to move, and packed nice light and tight! Perfect for this trip. Didn’t have the chance to setup the hammock on the trip, but I was very comfortable cinching the openings for the hammock pass thru’s closed, and sleeping with a low “R-value” sleeping pad. All in all I would make the purchase again and change NOTHING! Thanks for a great product!!

The sleeping bag is good quality, especially for it’s price. It’s nice for hammock use but that’s not its main advantage. I’m a big person, 6’2” and 275 lbs, and the extra width and center zipper really makes it very usable. The openings at the head and foot are easily cinched closed and sealed by placing a tee shirt stuffed on the insides. I’m very pleased with it size compressed as well. Perfect for motorcycle camping.

I tested the bag on April 4th in New Hampshire. Rain fly over the hammock. The bag is rated 15 deg, 30 comfortable. I found the rating to be accurate. Slept in long johns, socks, hat, which is what I would bring on any packing trip. Hung a thermometer under the fly, the temperature got down to 22 degrees. I was cool, but not cold, just as described.

My hiking buddy and I are section-hiking across the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. We started our trek on Saturday, April 17th. When we made it to our site, I got my hammock all set up, with my Antero 15 Degree Hammock Compatible Sleeping Bag.
Setup was easy. I love all the smart features on the Antero (like the draw cords at the ends, that cinch down on the hammock and help keep out the cold air). The pockets on the inside are nice for little essentials, like my headlamp.
Although it dipped down to near freezing overnight, I was...MOSTLY warm. I mean...COLD is COLD, so even with my 15 Degree bag, a sleeping bag liner, a WindStopper blankie...and some clothing layers...it was just cold outside.
Next weekend is our next section, and hopefully we'll gain a few degrees at night. I look forward to sleeping in my Antero again. :)

Love the bag. Kept me warm. Night 1 slept with the bag in the hammock with no issues. It was about 25°f and I had an under quilt. Night 2 I tried the hammock in the bag. I was still warm in the freezing temps but I found that I had to keep tucking the bag under my chin. The sides of my hammock (eno double nest) caused the bag to sit high above my chin. To avoid breathing into the bag I had to keep tucking during the night. Future trips I’ll just keep the bag in the hammock.

Used the 15 degree down hammock bag for a retreat. In years past with nights in the high 40’s, I’d need an under quilt and multi layers on myself. This year with this bag, slept in just shorts no shirt and was cozy throughout.

This sleeping bag is very warm and lightweight. It is a little cold if you sleep on the bare ground without a sleeping pad or some sort of insulation, because of how thin it is. Also it works amazingly well with a hammock, way better than I expected.

Great Bag for the Price
I took this bag to Kings Canyon in Mid-September and it was plenty warm. I ended up not using the bag in a hammock, only in a tent, but it works great on the ground. I really like the centered zipper, makes venting when hot extremely easy. The coldest night was at 10,000' where it dropped down into the low 30's and I slept in shorts and a fleece. The bag was plenty warm, I had an arm out of my bag a lot of the night to regulate temperature. Also extra room in the bag is great. Being a side sleeper I had plenty of room to move around and not feel constricted at all.
When I received my bag, it did have a pretty strong odor but I just laid the bag out for a week before my trip. The smell was almost gone by the time of my trip and by night two of my trip any odor was gone.
Overall this is a great bag and I can't wait to try it out on a hammock soon

Just spent two nights in GA - FDR State Park where the temperatures were in the upper 30's/low 40's. I use a Hammock Bliss No-See-Um (turned over) as my hammock (>100 nights out) as it is longer than the Eno Double but 30cm shorter on the width. I really liked having everything assembled in 1 stuff sack and so much smaller/lighter than the use of an underquilt/hammock/wool blanket-sleeping bag setup. I had my tarp and hammock setup in < 7min. and bugged-out in <17min.
The following has nothing to do with the quality or performance of the Antero 15 Long, but contributed greatly to the quality of sleep the 2nd night: 1.) The setup-video shows cinching up the entry/exit points of the bag in a tight position -- for me leaving these fairly open the 2nd night contributed to a much wider expanse of the hammock to promote diagonal sleep - the cinch points should be able to move as needed up and down the hammock while in the bag. I always put my day clothes in the bottom of my hammock and pillow at the top -- so cold-air flow is restricted and not an issue. 2.) The lining on the inside of the bag was not for me, the 2nd night I added a $12 sleeping bag liner which should also give a cleaner/longer life to the Antero and the sleep was Awesome!
When it gets colder in the North GA mountains - I will come back and comment on lower temperature limits.

I love this sleeping bag. I like the option of using it with my hammock, or in my tent. I took it on a 2 week trip through Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks, and it kept me warm when the temperature unexpectedly dropped down into the upper 20's in late August. When the temperature was warmer, I just used it as a blanket.
The black does look like a Glad Bag, but I like the contrasting inner material. It's big enough to side sleep with my knees up - I'm 5'10" 165lbs. I was worried that the pass-through hole for the hammock straps would let cold air in, but I did not notice it. The double-zippers work well and give me the option of venting the foot box. I'll update after a few more weeks of use - I may get a lighter one for summer weather.

I've been testing my Antero 15 degree bag/pod for two months (Jan 11 thru March 10 in central Virginia). I have the standard sized bag.
A. The spec chart is right. While wearing long underwear (32 degrees heat brand) and wool socks, the lower limit of my (6' tall, 180lb male) tolerance is right around 30 degrees. I prefer above 40, but I have little cold tolerance.
B. To see if a pod will work for you, try a night sleeping straight in your hammock. Put a pillow (or something) under your knees... I never thought I could sleep like that, but I get wonderful sleep.
C. I personally tighten the face hole down, and just use it to allow a little breathing air in... (Think sleeping with your head under the blankets with a little opening for air)
D. I also keep the bag in place by tightening the ends as you'd expect, but then I tie those strings to my caribeaners. This does two things... 1. It keeps the bag from sliding down too much on both ends. 2. The natural effect of the bag wanting to slide down then keeps the draw string tight (thus keeping cold air out).

I used the Antero 15 recently for tent camping on a sub-freezing night. I was very pleased with the warmth of the bag, as I had on minimal base layer clothing and a thin sleeping pad. I initially began the night sleeping inside the bag but then decided to open the bag and flip it over, like a quilt. This allowed me to sleep in my preferred position on my side, curled up like a cat. The functionality of this bag to be used with a hammock, as a traditional mummy bag, or as a quilt is amazing. The pockets inside the bag are a nice feature. My headlamp and mittens stayed put in them all night. Weight and size of the bag are fine for the needs of a fairly minimal camper who can't afford extremely high end "ultralite" gear. I haven't tried the bag with a hammock but plan to test it out with my Eno Sub 6 soon.

The Antero 15degree hammock bag may just be the ultimate in both categories. Temps were down around freezing with a few nights up in fifties. On cold nights I added my Klymet air mattress inside for extra protection. The only thing I would recommend would be a stretch cord added to each end to keep the bag at full length all night. Very well thought out functionality but the head end needs a couple of tie loops like the foot end for stretch cord addition. Slept like a baby for two weeks and filled my freezer for my family. Thanks Guys!!

I am 5' 7" and I got the regular. I set up using my ENO single over my GT single because it is shorter and narrower, I wanted to see how this bag would fit the smaller of the two. What I noticed first off was the hammock wants to spread open, at the foot area it forces the bags cinch open at the foot box allowing a cold draft to enter the bag, same goes for the head, though that didn't bother me, I grabbed a zip tie and cinched it at that point on the hammock, then pulled the bags cord tight again, problem solved.
The two pockets inside? They need to be made into an L shape, the long pockets wouldn't hold anything well and anything put in there would fall out and slide under the hammock. I most likely will be stitching 2/3 of the pocket shut, leaving the last 1/3 near the zipper as the opening.
I like the product, I like the price, I appreciate that someone has come up with a bag to fit a hammock. I will most likely be getting a 0 degree bag from them too and have a system to use during the winter. I think a shorter hammock like a Sub 6 would work better with the regular sized bag. debating on getting a long next time.
Trying to fill a void with Chinese made creations that they have come up with. I bet that as things progress, the quality and refinements will follow into the future batches being ordered.
